Enderby Fire Ban on Category 3 Open Burning in Effect as of May 3, 2024

A fire ban will be in effect as of 12:00 pm (noon) on May 3, 2024. The fire ban affects the City of Enderby and the Shuswap River Fire Protection District.

The fire ban is consistent with the Kamloops Fire Centre Direction, which prohibits category 3 open fires.

A "category 3 open fire" is an open fire that burns

  1. material concurrently in 3 or more piles each not exceeding 2 m in height and 3 m in width,
  2. material in one or more piles each exceeding 2 m in height or 3 m in width,
  3. one or more windrows, each not exceeding 200 m in length or 15 m in width, or
  4. stubble or grass over an area exceeding 0.2 ha.

*Note that the City of Enderby Good Neighbour Bylaw provides additional regulations for campfires and outdoor fireplaces which must be followed if you live within the City. The City also has a permit system for all open burning; all permit holders must not open burn during the ban. For more information, please review the City of Enderby's Open Burning and Campfire Regulations

Please review this poster about information about the different kinds of fires.

The fire ban is in effect until further notice or the Kamloops Fire Centre rescinds its prohibition.
